Day 2

They scraped up the floor. As predicted, it was noisy. Interestingly, it was not glued down except on the seams. Yet it had never peeled or bubbled or seemed loose in any way--way to go, Armstrong vinyl flooring! But the underlayment was glued down to the subfloor. So it will stay and simply be part of the subfloor. It's only 1/8 inch thick.

The project lead spent the day looking at the electrical needs and then he templated the positions of all the cabinets and appliances with a magic marker. And we have a problem! The position of the cabinet and microwave closest to the dining room is a foot away from the doorway instead of a few inches as we expected (and like the old ones were). We chose a shallow cabinet and microwave to avoid a "tunnel" effect at the doorway, and now we find out that we didn't have to? We'd much rather have had the microwave to match the other appliances but it wouldn't fit in the layout. The lead is checking his measurements and talking to the project designer. Wonder how long a delay to change out the affected cabinets and exchange the microwave?

Dinner was roast turkey breast (cooked in the Crock Pot, what did you think?), microwaved yams, steamed brocolli, and fruit salad.  Not bad for "camping."
